How to Check If Your Medication Is Included Before Joining a Prescription Membership

The most important step before joining any prescription membership is confirming that your specific medications — or suitable equivalents — are on the included list. Here is exactly how to do it.

The single most important question to answer before enrolling in a prescription membership program is simple: are my medications included? Not all programs cover the same drugs, dosages, or quantities. Taking five minutes to verify before you enroll will ensure the membership delivers real value for your household.

Step 1 — Make a List of Every Prescription in Your Household

Start by gathering the generic name, brand name, dosage, and typical monthly quantity for every prescription taken by every member of your household. Doctors and pharmacists typically use generic names, and most prescription membership programs list medications by their generic name rather than brand name.

Step 2 — Review the Included Medications List

My Personal Pharmacy publishes a comprehensive included medications list organized by therapeutic category — cardiovascular, diabetes, mental health, women's health, pain management, and more. Visit the Included Medications page to search for your specific medications. The list is searchable and updated regularly.

Step 3 — Note Any Medications Not Listed

If a medication you take is not on the included list, make note of it. In many cases, a therapeutically equivalent generic medication is covered even if your specific brand is not. Your prescribing physician may be able to prescribe the covered equivalent — but that is a clinical decision between you and your doctor, not something the membership program can determine.

  • Check by generic name, not brand name
  • Search by therapeutic category if you're unsure of the generic name
  • Note the dosage listed — some medications are covered at certain strengths only
  • Ask your physician about covered equivalents for any missing medications
  • When in doubt, schedule a call to ask before enrolling

Step 4 — Talk to an Enrollment Advisor Before You Sign Up

If you have questions about specific medications, coverage details, quantity limits, or whether a particular medication qualifies under the program, book a free 30-minute call with Peter Barone. This call is specifically designed to help prospective members confirm coverage before committing.

Don't guess — verify. Our Included Medications page lists hundreds of covered drugs by category. Still not sure? Schedule a free 30-minute call with Peter and get your specific questions answered before you apply.
